Captain’s Log, Stardate 201104.10

The first entry in my website blog, where in the future I plan to explore video and photography, music, politics, science fiction, and many other issues.

As time allows, the site will cotinue construction just as it requires a period to complete a starship or – close to my heart- the United Federation of Planets station DEEP SPACE NINE……… meanwhile: welcome. I can be found on Facebook, ModelMayhem, Mipoza.com, and e-mail me at

>A special Masters Sunday

Tiger showed flashes of his grandeur this day with a 31 on the front nine..if he hadn’t shot 74 yesterday I really believe he would be Masters Champion today.  Soon, Tiger……..!!!!!!! The US Open awaits.

Meanwhile: I gave my China flight info to Rick, traded for the 105 VR with Elvis (owe him $50), and shot my first-ever HD video expressly for TCSP/ Albert requested for the ad for the new website, TradeforPrints.com- featuring Laura Shodire in a PR piece shot with the new 85 f/1.4 and other clips with the 17-35 and 50 f/1.4, using my brand new Weifeng WF-718 video fluid head. Too rushed to try the new 77mm 4x ND filter even though it might have been perfect, with bright sunshine ruling the shoot..

Need to send some to Brandon Buie so he can do the editing I’m too lazy to get to.

As Tiger Woods contends for his 15th !!!!!!!!!!! major championship victory today at Augusta, with a 66 this Friday. I rejoice to think that he is on his way again. This gives a spring to my every step and puts a smile on my face. As if he ever needs to win again to convince me- and so many others- that he’s the greatest this game has ever seen- but there’s just something RIGHT about his re-emergence whether this weekend or whenever it should occur. Tiger seems destined to continue to do things the rest of us cannot imagine.

Other than that, I guess there’s not much on my mind except to keep learning the tech details of advanced Nikon CLS system flash. Nice day. Drove through a snowstorm over Tejon Pass to get back here!

>Repaired the link between Facebook and Lightroom 3

>Captain’s Log, Supplemental-

Posted 9 more images from landscapes directly from LR3 into FB after utilizing the Plug-in Manager feature in Lightroom. May shoot with Paula next weekend or during the week. Getting a lot more practice with the cataloging/search features of LR. Maybe reload some shots from 2006 for use on my site…. Jonathan requested one of those after seeing a small-file version.

So shoot my UFP com pin tomorrow, to use for my logo on the new website!

>Important things finally done today

Finally websized one of my all-time favorite shots done with the D2X in Nov 2007, just before I began my wonderful journey with the Nikon D, and posted on Mipoza and Facebook. Finally got around to getting my cheapo Yongnou 128-N camera remote batteries replaced and testing the unit.  Finally feeling like I’m making a lot of progress with some video shooting technical issues, and rediscovering the advantages of View NX2 and Capture NX2- great when you need a lot of information about exactly how a shot was done, and for equipment testing as well as video editing.

Seems I never have enough of one thing I need more than ever…time.

Nice drive back to Visalia, after having fun with Grant and planning to build my imaging website soon/ learn how to post to Vimeo and YouTube from him! Catch up again with Taylor maybe tomorrow evening; Galen and I had a great time with Kendell this morning and I just looked at the r4 videos I shot this weekend for the first time on my HDTV.

Much accomplished at VSP re video tests, microphone tests and cleaning up my cameras and lenses. Finally got around to vacuuming part of this place! after months…

Just finished the template and some data input for my China trip equipment list. The summer weather is here but for how long?? Maybe not tomorrow according to the forecast.. get some real rest tonight.

Taylor moved into the place downtown today!

I still can’t hear very well because of congestion, but otherwise feel fine. Can’t wait to shoot the 85 f/1.4 in the studio tomorrow…. then maybe some long lenses for sports.

The final day of March; very congested and could hardly hear anything part of the day, but better now.. decided to add subtle sharpening in-camera to my Nikons for JPEGs.. perhaps shoot sports such as soccer this weekend.

I took the time today to update my M2 and Mipoza portfolios and respond to inquiries.  This was the first day of the year that I remember the interior of my car being warm  when I got in after work- so it looks like winter is really over.

Got a contact from Barton recruiter, sent info this evening. I need to try to get my XXX Olympiad tickets soon!!!
