>THE WORLD AT WAR and its music

Late last night I had the wonderful experience of reliving the series and its seminal score by Carl Davis. I often have wondered what it would have actually been like to not know how WW II was going to end, to have lived through that 6 years. Would that have been a magnificent blessing- making it as clear as possible that we can NEVER have another world war- or the most horrific curse?

Today was not difficult at work; Midi’s unhappy as a Spanish climber is soon returning to Europe -but found that water bottle…

I continue sorting items to relocate, and catch up on politics. Nothing exciting happening- if I don’t work full time this summer, it would certainly be great to really concentrate on backcountry trips and photography, spend serious time at TCSP/TCPA, and enjoy more time with my children and grandson. Also, consider further CME if feasible.

Great weather today, wish I could get back to where I was yesterday afternoon in SEKI. I’ll hang around town tonight and catch up on politics, update View NX2 and maybe enjoy my clips of Kendell.

I hope very much that the workers in Madison, WI are able to hang onto their collective bargaining rights against the governor…

That lost hour cost me- I ‘d wanted to head to the Sierra this afternoon but it’s already mailto:3PM#$@%
so I’ll find something to do that’s fun… had a long phone conversation with Mom, so glad she’s all right and still don’t know what caused the blackout last week. At least I’m well rested!

The weather is fantastic here- hopefully it will hold for a while and not turn into summer……. same for SoCA??

Haven’t seen a movie for a while, maybe it’s time. Already started gathering things to move to LA this week.

I shot some precious video of Kendell in the driveway this afternoon, following a pretty boring but beautiful Sunday here in the LA area driving around trying to find good snow without 3,000 cars parked nearby. I certainly didn’t have any luck when I got to the intersection of 138 and the road leading to Wrightwood- which was completely full of cars…
Ian Masters came through yet again with a great KPFK radio program at about that time, thankfully. The ongoing events in the Middle East , etc…

>He’s recovering from illness and fairly sleepy sometimes, but otherwise fine. It’s been a month since he’s seen me… I wish I could have headed for snow but got too late a start. Maybe tomorrow. Got some REI Thermos ‘glomitt’ type gloves this afternoon, great for winter photography.

Tough drive after a 9 hr workday at That Place… but the Subway tuna was good and I got the news that the Jetboil Sol is released, want to try one soon for alpine use! Called Midi on a very good quality line from Leval West stop enroute.

Unloaded another batch relocated here, that project’s going well. People really seem to like those HDR shots I did in the alley in Covina- so do something different and create something else!

My thoughts turn to the past as I often ponder what it might have been like to live through WW II and not know how it would end. Then I think of my own lost people, like Larry Gehringer my first music teacher on piano, wondering if we ‘d make it up Gough St hill in San Francisco to get to his apartment for my lessons… and how sad I was when my mother told me he had died. I remember them all. Gordon Lowe, Pik’, Poppe,
George Matthews, Ruth Kilby, Joyce Hodge, those who helped me so much along my way to finding my place in the world and how I saw myself in it.

I’m tired, but happy. When others have no confidence in me, I always believe in myself. The future is uncertain, but I’m not. Life will evolve and I intend to enjoy the continuing journey. Let’s see if I can start by making the most of this storm after the photo shoot in the morning…….?

>But I got more cheese sticks and popcorn. Hope to talk tomorrow before my VPG meeting or maybe after.
Reading WWII Nazi history text and the latest NatGeo this evening, couldn’t bring myself to see the movie.

The hot shower felt good, helped my muscles feel better after being in that reading room chair all day again.

I look forward to an overnight camp this weekend if practical- check the weather, the worse the better!

Too busy to talk with Charles in the AM and didn’t get a chance later, maybe tomorrow. Perhaps we can head to the snow before long.  Taylor just called on the heels of some radiologist whom I met at a meeting, who had my card, from Madera looking for work. Tay will hopefully come over Sunday so I can have fun with my daughter, and as a bonus maybe even Kendell?

Go to THE  EAGLE this evening and relax. My car is almost completely loaded with gear to relocate to LA. No word after 2 calls to TRMC rad this morning. Maybe I’ll try calling again in time, meanwhile hopefully will interview with practices contacted in southern CA.
